Lee Landscape Design is a landscape design studio founded in East Hampton, New York. For over 20 years, the company has created residential and commercial landscapes on Eastern Long Island, New York City, Virginia, and, recently, in the desert communities of California. LLD is committed to creating and improving outdoor living by building landscapes that are functional, aesthetically engaging, and sustainable.
What distinguishes LLD and insures its success is the balance of horticultural study, field experience, and intuition. The company founder, Ricks Lee, grew up in southeastern Virginia on a working farm. He learned plant cultivation from his father: how to choose the best plant for a given location; and from his mother the importance of form, texture and color in the garden. It is the combination of these early instructional experiences and his more formal training that provides the foundation for all of his design work: a degree from the University of Virginia, the study of photography at the Evergreen State College and completion of the 2 year program at the New York Botanical Garden School of Landscape Design.
It is from listening and asking questions that LLD helps clients envision the possibilities of their outdoor surroundings. Each project reflects this thoughtful and collaborative process.
As well as design, the company’s scope of work includes installation, built forms, and ongoing maintenance.
